4 Month Well Baby

I took Jack to his 4 month Ped appointment today, which included his second round of immunizations. He did really well – cried through the shots but was smiling within a couple of minutes after they were over (and that was before I breastfed him!). He charmed everyone at the office!

My boy is still growing like a weed. He now weighs 17 lbs. 11 oz. and measures 26.25″ long (which means he is still running at the 95th and 90th percentiles respectively). He is doing wonderfully developmentally – chatting up a storm, sitting with support, reaching/grabbing for toys, supporting his own head, and standing with support. He has recently discovered the baby in the mirror and thinks he is hilarious. He is a total morning person, a pleasure to wake up to. His eyes still look to be going the green/hazel route but the newborn blue is still hanging on a bit, too. I can’t wait to see what the color settles on.

I have some concerns about our pediatricians. Not only did I get some information that is just plain WRONG about breastfeeding, but some of the recommendations about starting solids was pretty off, as well. The informational sheet they gave me also mentioned sleep training, including telling me that my infant no longer *needs* to eat during the night. What the fuck ever! Anyway, I am not sure what to do about this. I plan to fax some information over to the office to educate them on breastfeeding, but I’m not sure if I should keep taking Jack there. I mean, no harm done when I have done my reading, I guess, but it's hard to trust doctors who are giving out outdated information…
